Interesting minerals of charoite rocks. Mozandrite - Mosander

Among the minerals of charoitite rocks, there are the names of not only modern geologists, but also researchers of other specialties, whose peak of activity occurred in the middle of the 19th century. One of these personalities is the Swedish physician and chemist Carl Gustav Mosander (1797-1858), widely known for discovering such chemical elements as lanthanum, erbium and terbium. The mineral mozandrite- (Ce) was discovered in 1840 by the Swedish geologist and chemist Axel Joakim Erdmann (1814-1869) in the alkaline igneous rocks of the Langesundsfjord massif (Norway) and named mozandrite. A qualifying name with the addition of cerium was proposed by the International Mineralogical Association in 2016.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
