New finds

The second half of May this year was marked by the discovery of two large amber nuggets Suvorov and Chudotvorets at the Kaliningrad Amber Combine. The first, called "Suvorov", was found on May 18, 2022 - on the day of the 292nd anniversary of the birth of Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov, its weight was 1025 grams, and the second - "Wonderworker", mined on May 22, 2022, on the day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker , its weight is 1089 grams. The first week of summer for the Kaliningrad Amber Plant was fruitful for large nuggets. The nugget mined on June 1, weighing 1189 grams, was named "Blessed" in honor of the Prince of Moscow Dmitry Ivanovich Donskoy "Blessed" (10/12/1350 - 05/19/1389), whose memorial day is celebrated by the Orthodox Church on June 01 (according to the new style). And already on June 5, two nuggets were mined - "Moscow" (weight - 1948 grams) and "Lugansk" (weight - 1460 grams), which received their names in honor of the cities of Moscow and Lugansk, which became sister cities on June 3.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.
