About the shapes of stones in the collection

When collecting gemological collections, the type of cut of the stone is often ignored, but when comparing stones it is better to represent them in the form of close, or better, identical in shape and type of cuts. The most versatile cut for colored stones is the cushion cut with a wedge-shaped crown (top) and a stepped or mixed wedge-stepped pavilion (bottom). In addition to the universal shape, round wedge-shaped cuts are used for colorless or lightly colored stones. It is also very common for stones of all color types to be cut in the form of a baguette or a stepped octagon. If it is impossible to acquire a cut of the required shape and style of cutting, they select as close as possible to it and produce (order) a recut into the required variety. A prerequisite for the selection of stones for facet cutting is their transparency. Thus, a visual collection is being formed that makes it possible to reveal the features of the optical properties of specific jewelry stones in a visual comparison with each other with the same shapes and types of cut.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
