Size matters

When choosing cut stones for a collection, the problem of the size of the stones often arises. Some gemstones can be demonstrated by cuts weighing more than a kilogram, while others are extremely rarely represented even by carat stones. When demonstrating such a collection of different sizes, the observer gets a dimensional disorientation and the smallest cuts simply fall out of sight or simply do not focus on them. To avoid such inconsistencies, all collected cuts are subdivided into several size classes. The smallest (about 0.5 carats) applies to cuts from stones, which are practically not found in the form of jewelry raw materials and very rarely small cut stones can be made from them. These stones include jadeite, scolecite, uvarovite and others. Cuts made from stones larger than 1 carat can be classified as small-sized. Such stones include belomorite (an iridescent variety of plagioclase with albite-oligoclase composition), tremolites with an impurity content of chromium, manganese or vanadium, crocoite, and others. The most common group of stones, from which you can easily get medium-sized cuts with a mass of 5 to 10 carats. Large-scale cuts, represented by stones weighing over 20 carats, are also common in the world of minerals. The stones from which very large-sized (more than 100 carats) and giant-sized (more than 1000 carats) cuts are made, although they do not form a multi-page list, are not uncommon in nature and can satisfy any collector who wants to present a selection of cut stones weighing about a kilogram. Such stones include jewelry varieties of quartz, topaz, some beryls, calcite, gypsum.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
