Roses from Holland

Initially, rose cut diamonds most often inherited the natural shape of the diamond, complementing it with new facets to enhance the brilliance of the stones. This cut for small stones framing the central inserts became most popular in the late 18th and late 19th centuries, while the first rose-style cuts made in Europe were known before the 15th century. From the beginning of the 16th century in Europe, mainly in Amsterdam, they began to cut diamonds with an additional third belt of facets at the girdle. Such and more complex modifications of the "rose" cut began to be called "Dutch". The next step was to create a double "rose" cut, which had a pavilion cut in the same style as the top. It was possible to distinguish the pavilion from the top only by its height, since the pavilion had a lower height and was cut easier, but in the case when both parts were symmetrical, it was impossible to determine the crown and the pavilion. Now "rose" is also called a round modified cut with a large area, a set of crown faces, and a pavilion made in the style of the "rose" cut. The terms “old rose cut” and “modern rose cut” are used to distinguish between cuts. However, we share the point of view that it is still correct to call such a "modern rose cut" a "modified cut" with the addition of the definition of the shape - round, oval, pear-shaped and others. The main difference between the old rose cut is the lack of a platform. The crown (crown) of the "rose" cut consists of triangular faces, which in more complex cut options are grouped into "belts". The pavilion in a simple (not double) cut is absent, but instead there is a flat base, separated from the top by a girdle, which may be practically absent. Usually small stones are cut with a "rose", and such a cut has 1-2 belts of edges. Rose-style cuts are now also being produced for historicism jewelry.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
