Astrophyllitis

Astrophyllite, due to its perfect cleavage and high fragility, is not very suitable for processing. But despite this, hard and dense rocks, rich in dissemination of astrophyllite, are successfully used to make cabochons, in which astrophyllite plays with golden reflections. Often there are “loose” tangled fibrous aggregates of astrophyllite, unsuitable for making cabochons and beads, since they require the action of strengthening impregnating compounds. This processing of the stone subsequently affects the decorative qualities of the product. There are also known finds of dense aggregates of tangled fibrous astrophyllite with a subordinate amount of feldspar (potassium feldspar and albite). With a mineral hardness of 3-3.5, the hardness of such aggregates, probably due to a slight admixture of feldspar material, can increase to 5-6. Externally, inserts from such a stone are very effective and resemble wood with an unusual texture and reflections.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
