Diamonds fancy colors (fancy diamonds). Why are they more expensive than white?
Fancy diamonds are called diamonds that are richer and brighter than the Z standard in a series of D-Z colors. The color saturation gradation of such diamonds is divided into Light Fancy, Fancy, Fancy intense, Fancy vivid and Fancy Deep.
The price of fancy color diamonds can reach $ 1,000,000 per carat. The price of such diamonds depends on the color intensity, mass and quality of the stone. So, for example, a 3-carat diamond with a yellow color of Fancy yellow costs from $ 10,000 per carat, and Fancy vivid colors from $ 70,000- $ 80,000 per carat. A blue diamond of 2-3 carats fancy vivid blue reaches 250,000-450,000 per carat.
The reason for the higher cost of fancy color diamonds is that their amount in nature is many times less than ordinary (colorless and with a slight yellow tint) diamonds. All these diamonds are usually certified by leading laboratories in the world, since only the Gemological Center can correctly qualify a specific shade. Such diamonds do not have a specific price list and therefore the value is formed solely from the exchange prices for a particular stone.
