Chromium containing chalcedony

Everyone knows a variety of chalcedony, colored green with an admixture of nickel compounds and called chrysoprase. But in recent years, green chalcedony has entered the market, resembling chrysoprase in appearance, the color of which is due to the admixture of chromium compounds. At first, such chalcedony was described as an unusual variety of chrysoprase, but later, as a result of an increase in the supply of such material to the market, mainly from the deposits of Kazakhstan, the question arose about the correct name of such material. Currently, such material is no longer called chrysoprase (even if it is unusual) - until an independent name for this variety appeared in gemological practice, the terms are used: green chromium-containing chalcedony, chromium-containing chalcedony.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
