All facets of lovchorrite

A rare stone, but suitable for cutting, and therefore desirable in the collections of connoisseurs is such a mineral as mozandrite- (Ce). Transparent, least turbid samples of an amorphous variety called lovchorrite are cut. The name of the mineral is given by the first find of this variety - Mount Lovchorr in the Khibiny tundra. The most suitable for cutting samples of this stone can be found in the Khibiny in the Gakman gorge. But there are several "buts": this stone is relatively soft (hardness on the Mohs scale of only "4"), fragile and usually has a turbidity. And most importantly, it often contains trace amounts of uranium, which leads to an increased natural radioactivity of some samples. Although cut and transparent stones are rare and expensive, they are a collection mineral, not a wear mineral.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
