Geography in minerals

Everyone knows a lilac-colored jewelry and ornamental stone with a silky sheen - charoite. The name of this mineral is associated not only with the word "enchanting", but also with a real geographic object - the Chara River, which flows near the deposit area. This beautiful ornamental material is not a mineral individual, but a rock, sometimes monomineral, but more often a polymer aggregate with varying degrees of saturation with minor and accessory minerals. Often the names of these minerals are reminiscent of their chemical compositions, the names of scientists and researchers, as well as geographical names associated with the history of first finds and descriptions. So what lands will the charoitite minerals tell us about? Of course, these are, first of all, the vicinity of the deposit and the Chara River, which flows several tens of kilometers to the west of the deposit. To the east of the deposit lies the valley of the Tocco River, the name of which was given to the mineral toccoite. This mineral is often "company" for charoite, but has a less attractive color - brown from light to whitish shades. The Davan stream flows practically through the "Lilac Stone" deposit, which gave the name to the mineral davanite, which, without forming any significant mineral accumulations, sometimes accompanies charoite. The Murunsky char, near which the deposit is located, gave the name to the Murunsky massif of alkaline rocks, which in turn served as a prototype for the name of the mineral Murunskite. Although this mineral is represented by a seemingly inconspicuous sulfide, and moreover, it is chemically weakly stable, nevertheless, it was discovered in charoite rocks, where it is mainly found in insignificant quantities.

Currently, gemstones are produced by two fundamentally different technological methods - the High Pressure - High Temperature method (“HPHT”, High-pressure & High-temperature) and the Chemical Vapor Deposition (“CVD”, Chemical vapor deposition) method. The "HPHT" method is the most tested classical synthesis method, which can be used both carbon deposition on diamond from flux melts and catalytic reactions. In "CVD" synthesis, diamond growth occurs on a seed during carbon deposition mainly from a gaseous medium at relatively low temperatures and pressures.

Jewelry and precious stones are just such a category of goods, when buying which you need to pay attention to many criteria.

Sogdianite is a rather rare mineral and more often it can be found as a collection material (moreover, in systematic collections), and it is extremely rare in jewelry.
